BP Oil Spill Settlement Winds Down

NEW ORLEANS – On January 22, 2021, Judge Barbier issued the Settlement Program Wind Down Order for the Deepwater Horizon Economic and Property Damage Settlement Agreement, one of the largest class action settlements in history, created in response to one of the worst environmental disasters in modern history. Since 2012, the Court Supervised Settlement Program has issued more than $12 billion in settlements for more than 178,000 claims.

Shelby Roden, LLC filed one of the first lawsuits in the state of Alabama following the oil spill. The firm served on the Damages Subcommittee for the Plaintiff class members. Shelby Roden, LLC resolved thousands of claims through the claims center and in direct litigation with BP, recovering over $100 million in damages from the oil spill for our clients. After the monumental 8-years of litigation and claims processing, the BP claims center is closed.
