Our client and fellow rider was involved in a phantom vehicle crash while riding his motorcycle.
A phantom vehicle crash is one where the vehicle that caused the crash leaves the scene. A phantom vehicle is distinguishable from a hit-and-run vehicle though a rider’s rights are no different. A phantom vehicle causes the crash though there was no contact between the vehicles. The phantom vehicle in this particular case had crossed over into our Client’s lane causing him to swerve to avoid contact.
We pursued a case against his uninsured motorist carrier. A phantom or hit-and-run vehicle is considered “uninsured” in the state of Alabama. We were ultimately able to resolve the case for his uninsured motorist benefits policy limits of $100,000 and reduce and satisfy all his crash-related medical bills.
