Washington D.C. – On the morning of August 10, 2022, the Honoring Our PACT Act (H.R. 3967) was signed into law by President Biden. Included in this bill is the Camp Lejeune Justice Act, which provides veterans and their families the ability to receive compensation for injuries or death caused by exposure to toxic water while at Camp Lejeune from 1953 to 1987. Until now, those who suffered illnesses or lost loved ones due to water contamination at the base were barred from recovering damages from the government for causing those injuries. After years of effort, veterans, their family members, and civilian workers injured by toxic water at the base can finally pursue the remedy they are entitled to with this bill becoming law.
If you or a loved one suffered an illness or death you believe was caused by exposure to Camp Lejeune’s toxic water, please contact Shelby Roden, LLC today at 205-933-8383 for a free consultation.
