We served as relator’s counsel in a False Claims Act suit against HealthSouth Corporation. The suit alleged the company had defrauded Medicare and other governmental health programs.
HealthSouth Corp., which was based in Birmingham, AL, was once the largest provider of medical rehabilitation services in the United States. Multiple federal lawsuits were filed alleging, among other things, that the company had systematically over-billed Medicare. The lawsuit ultimately ended in a $325 million global settlement resolving the lawsuit our firm was involved in as well as other lawsuits.
